Yesterday afternoon, Governor Abbott announced the next phase of reopening Texas, which allows businesses to operate at up to 50 percent capacity, with limited exceptions. The announcement follows the phased approach to reopening businesses across Texas initiated on April 27 in the Governor’s Report to Open Texas.
This new phase also allows for the expanded operations of bars with restrictions and increases the maximum table size in restaurants. On Friday, June 12, restaurants can expand occupancy levels to 75 percent.
Outdoor gatherings are permitted, and the state encourages local officials and public health officials to collaborate on safe standards. Amusement parks and carnivals may also open at 50 percent capacity in June depending on the number of confirmed positive cases in the establishment’s county.
