Yesterday, Sunday September 30, Office Systems of Texas traveled to Chicago’s enormous McCormick Convention Center to witness PRINT 18’s Graph Expo show featuring the Print Industry’s top players. We’re happy to report Konica Minolta has the largest presence and most activity at their “booth” area. Their display area was not as much a “booth” as a prominent showcase that became a must see for all attendees. For the first time in public, the AccurioWide was presented, demonstrated and put through it’s paces. The AccuioWide 160 and 200 mark a significant entry bringing Hybrid UV LED Wide Format Ink Jet Printers to market in an affordable, low operating cost and very high Quality product. Wow, eye-popping color images on a variety of substrate materials! The WED Jet 100D also had a large amount of viewers, partially due to it’s gargantuan size. The size belies the abilty to do high speed, low cost variable data printing utilizing ink jet technology. Utility bills come to mind as only one of many ways to utilize this beast. It will surely reduce the amount of time and cost less to produce the output than any other current solution. Konica Minolta also displayed their rapidly growing market share devices in the Production Print C6100 and all new 6136. Watkiss booklet maker was on the output side of the C6100 and illustrated the power of a completely integrated solution. Labor and time saving finishing added to a consistent super high quality print engine. The Black & White Production Print engine showcased the first public showing of the new GBC spiral binding finishing device and again demonstrated Konica Minolta’s first to market initiatives to provide real time solutions to end users. Label printers factored into PRINT 18’s vendor offerings to a large extent and Konica Minolta was preeminent with right-sized and right-priced label printers. Canon, HP, Ricoh, Xerox and EPSON all displayed their high end print systems. The show really goes into high gear today, Monday October 1 and continues until 5 pm tomorrow.
