March 2 is Texas Independence Day

March 2, 1836 a group of people gathered at Washington on the Brazos (near present day town of  Navasota) and adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico. Texas won independence on April 21 at the battle of San Jacinto when the Texian Army, led by Sam Houston defeated the Mexican Army and capturing their Ruler, Santa Anna. There will be many celebrations in the State of Texas on Saturday March 2, including the Fun Run at the San Jacinto Monument held by the San Jacinto Museum of History. visit: sanjacinto-museum.org
