Jim Snelling, my friend and boss of 35 years, passed away on October 4, 2019. Jim played a large part as a mentor in my life. I counted on Jim to answer every question I threw at him. He always knew just what to say. How did he do that? He was just that smart. Some of the things I will remember about Jim are the simple things he enjoyed: working on projects around his house and providing shelter and meals to stray cats. Jim was a pretty good chef as well. I recall stopping by Jim’s place with Erich (many years ago). We wanted to check out Jim’s new stereo speakers. Jim was cooking up a batch of home-made chicken pot pies. The kitchen smelled so good! Erich, Jim and I sat down at the dinner table and devoured every chicken pot pie as soon as they came out of the oven. Boy, they were delicious. After we were stuffed, Jim laughed and said the extra chicken pot pies were to last Jim for the rest of the week. Oops! At one time in his life, Jim’s favorite mixed drink was the Cuba Libre. Jim, tonight I drink a Cuba Libre in your honor, and I will think of you often.
