Ricoh clarifies its commitment to print

  • The Japan Times newspaper published an article entitled; “Is print dead? With shift to digital, office-equipment giant Ricoh votes yes”
  • This article apparently caused quite a storm, as both Ricoh Europe and Ricoh USA had their executives give interviews stating that print is still an essential part of Ricoh
  • Ricoh did state that it is planning on “Office Services” to bring in more revenue and profit than print hardware sales by 2025
  • Also stated that it is targeting $498.8 million in cost reductions through FY2022
    • Will reduce 18 manufacturing sites to 13
    • Plans on reducing its customer engineer (technicians) headcount by 15% by 2022
  • Is looking to grow its OEM business (supplying hardware to competitors) to $923 million by 2025
  • Planning on launching new B2 production color inkjet press
  • Launching new GelJet devices for remote from home workers
