Friends of Klein Independent School District is made up of community volunteers who believe Klein ISD practices sound fiscal management. FoKISD support the necessary funding funding to improve safety & security at our school campuses, properly compensate educators and maintain the high quality of education KISD provides students while experiencing continued enrollment growth.
If you were not at either of our gatherings on the 23rd, you missed the sad story of Klein Elementary #33 so let me share it with you. Zwink Elementary is located in the NE section of KISD at 22200 Frassati Way just north of Spring Stuebner Rd. Zwink is severely over crowded since that area is experiencing great population growth. Thanks to funds available from the 2015 Bond, the board voted to build its 33rd elementary school across Spring Stuebner and behind the new CFBC North Klein Campus. In fact, the school district and the church had a joint closing on portions of 140 acres of land. Elementary #33 will be ready for students and staff this August BUT NO STUDENTS WILL ATTEND. There are no funds at this time to hire staff and provide programs, etc. for this new campus. Remember Bonds are for big things – buildings, buses, etc. but not for people. The M&O part of a district’s budget funds people. Let us hope the actions of the Legislature will resolve this issue.
